Breaking Boundaries: IDL -KNUST Leads Educational Exchange in West Africa

In a landmark collaboration to strengthen West African academic networks, KNUST's Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) led an elite delegation to Benin from 6th to 11th April 2025, to share expertise and strengthen regional collaboration in distance learning approaches.

The KNUST delegation featured Director of IDL Prof. Anthony Andrews, E-Learning Centre Director Prof. Eric Appau Asante, and Senior Assistant Registrar Mr. Christopher Addo.

The  team was hosted by the Centre d'Excellence Africain pour l'Eau et l'Assainissement–Institut National de l'Eau (C2EA-INE) at the University of Abomey-Calavi. C2EA-INE is a public institution serving as the scientific and technical arm of the Country in the fields of water, sanitation, and climate change, dedicated to research, training, and providing engineering solutions to societal challenges.

The collaborative initiative delivered impressive results in the areas of:

•          Evaluating distance learning systems

•          Co-developing the C2EA Manual for Digital Education

•          Training lecturers in online course formatting and publication

•          Enhancing the capacity of web managers to manage Learning Management Systems (LMS)

•          Exchanging best practices in online course delivery and quality assurance

 

This strategic partnership showcases IDL-KNUST's continued commitment to expanding access to quality education through innovative digital solutions across West Africa, cementing its position as a regional leader in educational technology and distance learning excellence.
