A delegation of the Board and Management of the Institute paid a two-day working visit to inspect ongoing works on the Adenta and McCarthy Hill projects in Accra. This was to afford the Board and Management, first-hand information on the progress made thus far on the two projects.

The team led by the Director of the Institute, Prof. Matthew Glover Addo, first inspected ongoing construction works on a six-storey complex of classrooms, examination halls, offices and associated external works at Adenta in the Adentaman Central Business District in Accra. ASIB Limited is constructing the project to help ease congestion at the Kwabenya Learning Centre of the Institute.

The team was met on arrival by Mr. Jones N. Aboagye, the General Manager of ASIB Limited, in the company of other officials of ASIB Limited, including the Site Engineer, Mr Edward Kofi Baisie. The team was conducted round the facility to inspect the scope of work. Clarifications were sought on the size of the proposed car park, completion date of the project, student sitting/relaxation areas, the provision of a cafeteria, water supply and public address system, among others.

The team was informed that there was a site meeting earlier in the day to assess the scope of work. The project, which according to the General Manager, was 51% completed, was ahead of schedule by 1%. It was, therefore, expected to be completed on schedule by December, 2023.

The team also visited the newly-acquired six-storey structure at McCarthy Hill, which formally housed Regent University College of Science and Technology, Accra. The facility which the Institute has acquired is expected to be in use in the 2022/2023 academic year. Thus far, the Estate Unit and the Directorate of Works and Physical Development of the University have done the needed technical assessment to put the facility to use. The team was conducted round the facility by Mr. David N. Korda of the Development Office. He informed the team that some minor maintenance works on the facility, including plumbing, electrical and painting, will commence soon to pave the way for the use of the facility in the next academic year.

Members expressed happiness about the two projects and commended the Management of the University and Institute for helping to expand the frontiers of the Institute within its Southern Zone.

The team, headed by Prof. Matthew Glover Addo (Director), included Prof Anthony Andrews (Deputy Director), Mr. Owusu Ansah Debrah (Institute Registrar), Dr. Felix Obeng Boateng (Institute Finance Officer) and Dr. Foster Frempong (Institute Examinations Officer). Other members of the team were Mr. Abraham Adusei (Assistant Registrar), Mrs Joy. S. A. Amakwah (Southern Zonal Co-ordinator) and Mrs Maurin E. Odai (Southern Zonal Co-ordinator). The rest were Prof. Emmanuel K. Appiah-Adjei (Board Member), Prof Eric Appau Asante (Director of the E-Learning Centre and a Board Member), Mr. Wofa K. Adu-Gyamfi (GRASAG President and Board Member) and Mr. Emmanuel Osei Boateng (IDL Students Representative Council President and Board Member).
