Overview
The MSc Environmental Science is a multidisciplinary programme which aims at training students to recognise and understand the threats and conflicts in the environment today and appreciate the steps required to develop realistic solutions. The systematic approach adopted to this MSc programme enables students to deal with all aspects of the environment. Throughout the course, students will have various opportunities to participate and work outdoors and apply their classroom and field work knowledge to real life environmental challenges.
This two-year programme allows students to develop a good understanding of the various types of decision tools that are currently used by industry and regulatory bodies to manage sustainable development, their limitations and strengths and to provide the practical experience needed in solving environmental problems. This course is aimed at graduates looking to specialise, or those looking to enhance their skills & knowledge or re-train in environmental science and academics and Government employees who are looking to further their careers, develop in-depth industry knowledge and remain at the forefront of science.

Mode of course delivery
The programme is offered through distance education, a learning oriented system allowing greater flexibility in learning while students continue with their regular professional work. The programme is offered in a mixed mode format. The approach uses print and electronic media in order to be responsive to the needs of the learner and also maximize the use of technology in course delivery.
At the heart of the programme is excellent online learning materials developed by capable and competent resource persons from KNUST and other recognized institutions.
Academic Support Systems/Services
Limited face-to-face facilitated sessions are provided at all the Learning Centres. These sessions are supported by print and electronic materials, and local learning facilitators who also support and direct students as they work through the resources provided.
The Centres provide learning support to students living in different parts of the country, thus reducing travel expenses.
